University course “Preparation for the human love” of Institute of Family Sciences (ICF) at Universidad de Piura (Perú)
In Universidad de Piura (Perú), the Institute of Family Sciences (ICF) offers each semester an elective course called "Preparation for the human love" to undergraduates students of all the faculties. The course includes topics related to the dimensions of the human being like conjugal love, the biomedicine in human sexuality, lifestyles of young and social media.
Objectives: (a) Offer an anthropological and comprehensive vision of the human person. (b) Understand the differentiation and complementarily between male and female. (c) Understand sexuality as a constitutive aspect of the human person oriented towards human love. (d) To deepen the meaning of conjugal love. (e) Analyze issues related to sexuality and affection. (f) Develop critical thinking to better target their own maturity.
Purpose: Supplement technical and vocational training of undergraduate students, with the development of personal skills for assertive decision-making, related to their own sexuality and affectivity. We offer expertise for fundamental decisions: Get married or living together? What kind of family structure I would like to have? How to balance my work with my family?
The beneficiaries: The course "Preparation for the human love" is for undergraduate students whose age (18-21 years) matches with the end of adolescence and the proposed topics respect their personal maturity.
Duration of the project: 4 months, 4 hours per week, with a total of 52 hours that includes conferences, workshops, working groups, analysis of films and readings as complementary material.
Measures of monitoring during the activity or project: The responsibility, supervision, teaching and evaluation of the course are in charge of the Institute of Family Sciences at Universidad de Piura.
Evaluation procedures: Four control readings, two individual works, three work teams and control of assistance
Results of the project: At the date we had 1670 students since it began to provide this course (year 2006).
At the end of the course, students respond to a survey, where: The 90% claim that the issues studied have been interesting: The 84% considered that those subjects have enriched their personal training and their view of the life.
